This poem expresses some of the ways that dance has graced my life
but mostly the reverance for Oriental Dance that I will always feel.
The Voice of My Heart
(a poem dedicated to all of us who dance)
I wish my dance to
be a recognition of the
place where all hearts blend,
A vision of
the pervasiveness of truth,
Woven into a
tapestry of movement.
An invitation
to embrace
that sacred
place that dancers hold
in the flow
of timelessness,
A chance to
rest in the beauty and stillness
that reside
within us all.
For my dances
are the children of my soul,
They fill each
hole with a poetic resonance
and a chance
for new life,
And help unite
the scattered pieces of myself.
No longer beyond
words for me,
This dance is
the song of my womanhood
And the voice
of things unspoken in my heart.
It is a haunting
rememberance
stirring me
to move from the depths of myself
Until all that
I am wanting is resolved within it's arms.
It has awakened
me and taken me to heaven's door
And to that
which lovers yearn for,
As I touch the
earth and share my joy
with those who
care to see.
And
so, I dedicate my dance to all of life,
As a
celebration, an inspiration, a rememberance
and
a recognition once again,
of that
sacred place and often forgotten place,
where
all hearts blend.
